Hippo is built on a central philosophy that the very best product and service, supported with the most talented and emphatic team will help reshape the home insurance industry. Because of this, Hippo counts some of the brightest minds among our team – people who think progressively and originally with the simple goal of being the best in the industry for our customers in mind.

This International Women’s Day, we are proud to highlight some of the  female leaders and voices, in particular, that make Hippo a great company for both our team members and our customers.

The Inspiration

“[My mom] always said, ‘The work that you’re doing is not small or big. It’s the passion that follows.’” -  Swati Bang, California

We sat down with several of the women in our California and Texas headquarters to find out what drives them, who inspires them and why they feel Hippo is the best company to apply their talents. Their paths and professions are different. Some have found motivation and inspiration from powerful, entrepreneurial women from their own early mentors to Arianna Huffington. Others have turned to mothers and more personal connections with mothers and grandmothers.

The common thread that they share is the drive to expand their talents and abilities and be part of a bigger goal to be and do better. They are also inspired by a professional environment that not only encourages a balance between career and personal life, but one that celebrates and appreciates the contributions of employees at any level. These women are lead engineers and little league coaches; risk analysts and former radio DJs; analytics gurus, directors and dog lovers; marketing experts and mothers, and they’re owning it all.

“[These women] have shown me how to work in a high level way while caring about the team members that you support.” - Nicole Perrault, California

Everyone’s an MVP

In our California headquarters, our incredible team of engineers is building a full-stack product that places the customer at the center of the home insurance experience while our marketing experts work to communicate Hippo’s differences to homeowners across the country. Our Texas insurance headquarters includes the claims, support, billing, sales and underwriting teams that are on the front line of customer service. These are the people who walk through the policy options with homeowners, answering all the questions that arise when making decisions to protect your greatest financial investment, and who are there to support and guide customers through questions and the claims process when issues or accidents arise.

Across all of these specialties and skills, the women of Hippo are all about taking the guidance and inspiration they received and paying it forward as a key part of Hippo’s continued success Overwhelmingly, they shared that one thing they value most about this company is the culture of teamwork that thrives here -- clearly something that speaks to their professional core values.

“Hippo is a culture of accountability, teamwork, collaboration… It’s more about how to build this organization to be the best. I’ve never felt so comfortable in my skin.” – Camille Rosales, Texas

At Hippo, we celebrate and encourage and share a wealth of knowledge and vision for this company every day. By focusing on diverse perspectives, backgrounds and experiences, Hippo has created a unique company that is proud to put our customers and our employees first.
